It amazes me..
A few things in this world can be scientifically explained. But a huge majority can never be it seems, as God just continues to amazes us.The one thats looked quite awesome to me is the living challenge -the optical illusions, for which we still have not been able to find an explanation. The question of how our brain can be fooled despite its consciousness & awareness of the situation is quite an untackled answer. Being amazed by the smaller static forms of these PUZZLES, i have been on the persistent quest for more of these in different forms & now really its happening... Artists from world over are in continuous efforts to create & patent their own ones.. & now it mustn't be a surprise to hear that there is even an annual award for the best discovery of the year. Here is a list of the few that i have found the most amazing (please do not try to count th number of times i have repeated the term amazing in this page)..
1. Lilac chaser - Lilac chaser is a visual illusion, also known as the Pac-Man illusion. It consists of 12 lilac (or pink, rose or magenta), blurred disks arranged in a circle (like the numbers on a clock), around a small black, central cross on a grey background. One of the disks disappears briefly (for about 0.1 second), then the next (about 0.125 second later), and the next, and so on, in a clockwise direction. When one stares at the cross for about 20 seconds or so, one sees three different views:
A gap running around the circle of lilac disks
A green disk running around the circle of lilac disks in place of the gap
The green disk running around on the grey background, with the lilac disks having disappeared in sequence.
This is due to an effect in which the colors of the lilac disks are inverted in the optical illusion to a green color. (If the discs were blue, one would see yellow where the gaps were)
2.The same color illusion— also known as Adelson's checker shadow illusion, checker shadow illusion and checker shadow, is an optical illusion published by Edward H. Adelson, Professor of Vision Science at MIT in 1995. The squares A and B on the illusion are the same color (or shade), although they seem to be different. This can be proven by sampling the colors of A and B in an image-editing program. By erasing everything except the two labeled squares, the illusion can be dispelled.
3. The revolving circles illusion-
The two circles seem to move when the viewer's head is moving forwards and backwards while looking at the black dot.
Now coming to a few static ones...
4. Magnetic hill of ladakh- A gravity hill, also known as a magnetic hill (and sometimes a mystery hill or a gravity road), is a place where the layout of the surrounding land produces the optical illusion that a very slight downhill slope appears to be an uphill slope. Thus, a car left out of gear will appear to be rolling uphill. The slope of gravity hills is an optical illusion, although tour guides may claim natural or even supernatural forces are at work. The most important factor contributing to the illusion is a completely or mostly obstructed horizon; without a horizon, judging the slope of a surface is difficult as a reliable reference is missing. Objects one would normally assume to be more-or-less perpendicular to the ground (such as trees) may actually be leaning, offsetting the visual reference.
The readers are always welcome present their most amazing experiences with optical illusions..
Now its BREAKING THE CODE time...
Recently, i happened to notice an article on MIND READER that a good friend of mine had posted in his blog...Though very amazing in the first look, its just a completely fallacious setup, though, i have o agree, very deceptive. In simple words, its just like saying 2+2+2-4 is 2. Her , they first ask to think of an two digit no & then ask us to add its digits. Then the obtained no is to be subtracted from the original no. The fact to note he is that, for all numbers starting with the same digit, the answer would be the same i.e, 79-16=78-15=77-14=76-13=75-12=74-11=73-10=72-9=71-8=70-7=63. Thus the numbers that can be obtained are 81,72,63,54,45,36,27,18,9...All these numbers are represented by the same symbol & when you get he answer, you are amused. But then the question remains-"how come i get different symbols each time?"- & aah! thats the simplest part. They silently change the symbols en bloc each time you go for a retry..
